Bawdamore Preservation Society

Bawdamore Preservation Society (BPS) is a nod to the preservation and historical societies of yesteryear—reimagined for the people, by the people.

Our mission is to preserve and amplify the rich cultural legacy of Black Baltimore—from iconic figures and neighborhood stories to foodways, civic movements, migration, architecture, art, and everyday folklife.

We shine a light on the hidden, overlooked, and everyday brilliance that makes Baltimore what it is. Through interactive city tours, multimedia storytelling, and cultural events, BPS brings history off the page and into the streets—inviting new audiences to experience the power of place and memory.

Our goal is to weave the past and present together into living narratives that center the beauty, joy, resistance, and pioneering spirit of Baltimore’s most marginalized communities—and to empower a network of culture keepers who are reclaiming and re-telling our shared story.
