Celebrating the Culture in Agriculture

The Garden Art Party is an invitation to gather on the sacred grounds of community gardens throughout Baltimore City to immerse ourselves in art, nature, and collective well-being. Part block party, part community ritual, Garden Art Party invites people of all ages into deeper relationship with themselves, the land, and one another. It is a celebration of creativity, a grounding in the wisdom of the earth, and a reminder that joy is a form of healing.

Created by Director of Olu Butterfly, with artistic direction by Dirk Joseph, the Garden Art Party blends performance, visual art, storytelling, and hands-on making in spaces that have long held our memories. As the Garden Art Party Doula, I offer pathways for partygoers to reconnect with themselves through nature-based play—inviting curiosity, embodiment, and a return to wonder. I serve as a guide for learning from the natural world both around us and within us, helping participants listen more deeply, root more firmly, and feel more alive in their own bodies.

Together, we create an atmosphere where creativity becomes ceremony, where gardens become classrooms, and where community joy becomes its own medicine.

Garden Art Party runs from April to October.
